Lawton gets its first-ever hometown talent competition Saturday night (Nov. 7) when Lawton Has Talent takes over McMahon Memorial Auditorium at 801 NW Ferris. Twenty-one acts, from solo singers to groups like Spanish B.O.I. and E&T, will compete for a $1,000 first prize, with $750 for second and $500 for third. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. and the show starts at 7.

The event is organized by the McMahon Auditorium Authority’s International Festival Committee alongside the City of Lawton Arts and Humanities Division, and every ticket sold supports the International Festival. It’s also a chance to see the newly renovated McMahon in action. Arts and Humanities Director Jason Poudrier says the idea came from a simple question: with so much talent in Lawton, why not showcase the community and raise money at the same time?

Tickets are $25 for general admission, $15 for military and youth ages 3-12, and $75 for VIP packages. You can buy from any contestant or online at lawtonhastalent.org. So who’s the most talented person you know in Lawton, and are they on that stage Saturday night? Tell us in the comments.
