Laundry day just got easier for the residents of Lawton, OK today! Located at 1503 NW Sheridan Road, a new local business has soft-opened: PureWash Laundromat. The goal is simple: to provide a clean and reliable place for folks to take care of any laundry needs they may have.

Remodeling began earlier in the summer, with a soft-opening occuring on August 4. For thirty days following the soft-open, PureWash is offering completely free washes, a $19 sale on comforters included in their Drop-Off Wash, Dry & Fold service offered at $1.79 a pound, and 45% off your first rug wash order.

The business has been built from the ground up: new washers and dryers, windows and epoxy floors, too -- and talks of a play room being built as well, to occupy the kiddos if needed. PureWash has been built for longevity, to serve its community in any way it needs: from the clothes on your back to the rugs on your living room floor. There is plenty of comfortable seating, TVs to watch and vending machines for snacks and refreshments.

Want to check it out? Need a load of laundry cleaned? Stop in today at PureWash Laundromat to see what it's all about -- and support local business at the same time!

Lawton's annual community Spring event, Open Streets, will take place Saturday April 4th, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. all down C Avenue.

Open Streets is a free, family friendly event that shuts down C Avenue from 2nd to 5th streets, preventing vehicle traffic and providing a safe space for people to walk, play and connect with their community. There will be a host of local vendors, nonprofit organizations and other volunteer groups providing information for attendees to check out -- but there will also be games, activities, helpful demonstrations and, of course, food trucks galore.

This is the perfect chance to enjoy some Spring-time sunshine among one's own community!

Lawton Public Schools will be hosting their annual Life Ready Conference and Career Fair on March 6, 2026 at the Albert Johnson Sr. Conference Center and Douglas Learning Center here in town. The event is expected to draw in up to 800 local juniors, bridging the gap between students and local employers to showcase the breadth of opportunity right here in our community.

This Conference proves year after year that students need not always leave Southwest Oklahoma in order to build successful careers and meaningful lives, while providing local businesses the opportunity to connect and build relationships with both our community as well as the next generation of our workforce.

There will be something for everyone here, so come on by and don't be afraid to ask questions!
