There is only one object on Halloween...to get the MOST CANDY EVER!! In our community, kids are, pretty much, bussed in because the houses give out a ton of sweets. Last year, each of my boys had overflowing candy. There was a trail from the car to the front door of sugar falling out of their bags.
I don't let them eat until they burst, they get to choose a few pieces that night, then the bag sits on the dining room table, along with everything else we are in the process of doing, and they have to ask before they dive in. They never finish the stash by the next Halloween, so I'll take what's left to work, and we start all over.
One mom on tik tok had a different idea. In her house, the kids get to pick ONLY 3 of their favorite pieces. Then, they put their candy bag outside the front door. That night, the Switch Witch takes their candy and leaves a toy instead. It could be anything they've been wanting...it doesn't have to be Hallween related.
Clearly, the internet went bananas with judgement. Some called this mom overprotective in the candy department, some told her she's ruining Halloween for the kids. Others are calling it genius, creative, even life changing!
