August 1, 1981: MTV Debuts

The cable television network MTV debuted, with the first broadcast being the music video for “Video Killed the Radio Star” by the Buggles. MTV has since become a major influencer in pop culture, although radio stars can attest that their demise was greatly exaggerated.

I remember watching it on that first day. I couldn't even imagine what it would become and the influence it would have.
