Nominees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2025 announced

Nominees for the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame Class of 2025 were announced yesterday.  Here's the rundown:

This year's first timers are:  Bad CompanyThe Black CrowesJoe CockerBilly IdolManáOutkastPhish, and . . . finally . . . Chubby Checker.

Chubby's still with us, by the way.  He's 83 years old, and he's been living off two hits for the past 60-plus years:  "The Twist" and "Let's Twist Again".  Three if you count "Limbo Rock".

But he's been wanting in the Rock Hall for a long time.  In 2001, he took out a full-page ad in "Billboard" arguing for his inclusion.  In 2002, he protested outside the induction ceremony when he didn't get in.

Anyway, the rest of this year's nominees are:   Mariah CareyJoy Division/New OrderCyndi LauperOasisSoundgarden, and The White Stripes.

The Class of 2025 will be announced in April, and the induction ceremony will take place next fall in Los Angeles.
