The McMahon Auditorium Authority is proud to announce that local artist Krystal Britz has been awarded a grant in support of her latest creative project, a photo series celebrating members of the 55+ community.
In partnership with the Senior Center for Creative Living (CCL), Britz will transform participating seniors into Greek gods, goddesses, and mermaids, giving them a day to feel empowered, radiant, and unapologetically themselves. The project aims to spotlight seniors who actively utilize the center and its resources, emphasizing strength, beauty, and individuality in aging.
“This series is about challenging outdated narratives of aging,” Britz shared. “It’s a celebration of the power, grace, and vitality that exists within our senior community.”
The completed series will debut at the Leslie Powell Gallery on July 11, 2025, and will be permanently installed at the Senior Center for Creative Living following the exhibition.
Britz is currently seeking participants aged 55 and older, with a special effort to recruit individuals from diverse or historically marginalized populations. Those interested in participating are encouraged to reach out to the Senior Center for Creative Living for more information on how to get involved.
Britz will hold an open photography sessions for those interested June 18, 2025 at the Center for Creative Living from 9:00AM-12:00.
This grant reflects the McMahon Auditorium Authority’s commitment to fostering inclusive, community-based arts programming in Lawton.
