n a scene that sounds like it’s ripped from a sci-fi flick, a meteor, which is believed to be around 4.56 billion years old, has crashed into a home in Henry County, Georgia. Now, most of us would be thrilled to see a shooting star, but how many of us actually want one crashing through our roofs? I can just hear the homeowners now: “Great, more repairs after that hailstorm last month!”

This fireball was spotted by countless people streaking across several states, making its grand entrance known before it literally dropped in on some very unfortunate residents. Luckily for them, they’ve got a story to tell for dinner parties! Nothing breaks the ice quite like, “So, a meteor hit my roof.” You’ve got to wonder if they’re wishing for some cosmic help with that ceiling repair.

More importantly, this incident raises some interesting questions: What do you do when your home becomes a meteor’s landing pad? Do you call your insurance company or NASA? Talk about a hefty claim — “Uh, yes, my house is damaged because a rock from space decided to set up camp!” Now that’s a new twist on homeownership.
