Braving the Elements: Three Heroes Clean Up Lawton's Numu Creek

In the face of chilly winds and overcast skies, the spirit of community shines brighter in Lawton, Oklahoma. Last Saturday, three of our locals—Rockel, Golda, and Charles—braved the elements to participate in Stream Clean Saturday. Their mission? To rid the east branch of Numu Creek at Harmon Park of around 440 pounds of trash and debris.

These dedicated volunteers rolled up their sleeves and showed that it takes more than a little bad weather to quench their passion for their community and the environment. Their efforts aren’t just about cleaning up; they’re about creating a healthier space for everyone and reminding us all how one small action can lead to a cleaner, more welcoming area.

City officials have expressed heartfelt appreciation for this incredible trio and their commitment to keeping the environment clean. Sometimes, it’s the unsung heroes like Rockel, Golda, and Charles who remind us that every piece of litter picked up is a step towards a brighter future—one clean creek at a time. Just think, if they can tackle that much trash in harsh weather, maybe we can all take a hint and do our part, even if it’s just picking up that one coffee cup on the sidewalk!
