Lawton Cattle Drive Road Closures: Your Saturday Parking and Traffic Guide

Get ready, Lawton. Saturday, Aug. 8, marks a big day for our city as we celebrate 125 years with the Lawton Rangers Longhorn Cattle Drive. If you’re heading to the festivities, or just need to get across town, you’ll want to know about the road closures and parking restrictions in place from about 8 to 9:30 a.m.

The city has set up a color-coded system to keep things moving. Red zones mark the cattle drive route and are strictly no-parking areas. Yellow zones are locations you’ll need to access before 8 a.m., and they’ll reopen around 9 a.m. Green zones are the open parking areas where you can come and go freely. The actual cattle drive runs from 8:30 to 9 a.m., so the disruptions are brief, but the windows for arrival are tight.

This is a fantastic way to see a piece of Lawton’s western heritage, with the longhorns making their way through the streets near our historic downtown. Just remember to check the event map, arrive early, and respect the posted signs. With a little planning, you can grab a spot in a green zone and enjoy the celebration.
