Twenty years after The Black Parade debuted at No. 2, My Chemical Romance has their first No. 1 album. The 20th anniversary reissue jumped from No. 139 to the top of the Billboard 200 with 78,000 equivalent album units, fueled by a sales surge of more than 2,000 percent in a single week.
The deluxe set, out Oct. 23 via Reprise Records, packs the original album plus six bonus tracks: three fan-favorite B-sides and three live recordings from the band’s 2007 tour, all collected together for the first time. The reissue also topped the U.K.’s Official Albums Chart, and the band celebrated on Instagram Stories with eight black heart emojis set to Miley Cyrus’ “Wrecking Ball.”
Anniversary reissues have been reshaping the charts all year, but this one lands hard for a generation that grew up screaming every word. So we have to ask: what album from your teen years deserves the same treatment? Sound off in the comments.
